A wildfire is ripping through an L.A. celebrity neighbourhood.
The fire, said to be over 200 acres as of Tuesday afternoon, is spreading over Pacific Palisades, causing the evacuation of thousands. Cars and homes have been abandoned, it is reported.
"Do not stand in the way of this fire," said firefighter David Ortiz. "This is pretty much the worst possible scenario for a firefight."
The list of celebrities that live, or have lived or owned property in the area include Adam Sandler, Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Matt Damon, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dennis Quaid, Tyra Banks, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chris Bosh, Lauren Conrad, Miles Teller, J.J. Abrams, Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Crystal, Chevy Chase, Dr. Dre, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Reese Witherspoon and Geena Davis.
This list is not exhaustive, as the neighbourhood attracts the rich and famous due to its privacy, scenery, and proximity to Hollywood studios.
Emergency services have issued an evacuation order, telling residents to leave.
The evacuation caused a traffic jam on Sunset Boulevard as residents tried to evacuate, leaving behind their mansions as the fire quickly scorched the ground around them, reported the Daily Mail.
The fire is not contained, according to multiple sources. Water bombers are on the scene.
