Toronto's harm reduction sites are providing drug kits that you can order through your phone. A hotline on Toronto's Centre Healthline called "The Works" operated by Toronto Public Health, has a van service which "distributes harm reduction supplies, and safer drug use education," by calling and requesting an order in the Toronto area. Amy from the New Toronto Initiative went on the Ben Mulroney Show Tuesday, revealing the details of these drug kits. Amy says she collected a drug kit from the Queen West Community Centre in Toronto. Inside she found pipes for smoking crack or meth, naloxone, syringes, condoms, and instructions on "safer crystal meth smoking," like how to prepare a meth pipe. .When the Western Standard called the hotline, the operator confirmed the supplies provided include injecting and smoking supplies. The operator said you can request supplies and they will simply pack and deliver them.According to the City of Toronto's website, harm reduction sites span over 60 locations. Amy says these drug kits were only supposed to be delegated to five Toronto locations: Ingleton, Lake Ontario, Victoria Park, and Don Valley Parkway. .Amy claims when she went to one of the locations and asked how long drug recovery treatment would take, no one could answer her question. Nor were there any actual brochures that provided information on how to get off drugs.Amy also mentioned people are not allowed to use drugs on site.At the Casey House in Toronto, SASSY ("Safely Access Services and Supplies for You") vending machines are provided, supplying these drug kits..On Casey House's website it says, "SASSY provides free equipment and help people access local resources; this includes sexual health supplies, clean needles, pipes, naloxone, and other supplies for safer drug use.
