A daycare owner in Abbotsford has been arrested after allegedly beating children.
Indu Takhar, 60, was subsequently charged with six counts of assault.
According to the Abbotsford Police Department, Takhar was apprehended on February 4 following a months-long investigation that began following reports of children being assaulted dating back to 2022.
The victims were said to have been between the ages of two and six.
A woman with the same name is listed as the founder and owner of Smile 'n' Play Daycare, which has three locations in Abbotsford.
Takhar was described as a "seasoned visionary and mother of 2, who journeyed to Canada with a heart full of passion for nurturing young minds."
"Guided by a team of dedicated educators who share her zeal for sparking curiosity and igniting imaginations, Smile 'n' Play Daycare offers a nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported," the company's About Us section claimed. "From tender moments cuddled in the arms of caring caregivers to joyous explorations in vibrant play spaces, each experience is crafted with love and intention."
Takhar has since been released from custody after agreeing to abide by a number of conditions, including "not going to any daycare centres and having no contact with any person under the age of 16 years old."
