A man from Ontario accused of drug trafficking has been captured in British Columbia after managing to evade police for over two years.
Since first being arrested in 2021, 57-year-old Brian Gosse was granted bail twice, and somehow made his way across the country without being caught.
According to the Windsor Police Service, Gosse was apprehended in Kelowna "without incident" on February 11 with help from the Ontario Provincial Police-led Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad, the RCMP Kelowna High-Risk Offender Unit, the British Columbia Sheriff Department, and the British Columbia Fugitive Return Program.
He was subsequently returned to Windsor, where he was subsequently charged with five counts of failing to comply with a release order, on top of his myriad drug offences.
In April 2021, Gosse was arrested after police in Windsor seized 112 g of fentanyl, 2 kg of crystal methamphetamine, 30 g of cocaine, and $8,000 in cash. He was released on bail three months later, and went on to allegedly re-offend.
On that occasion, 161 g of fentanyl, 986 g of crystal methamphetamine, 245 g of cocaine, and over $16,000 in cash were seized. Nonetheless, Gosse was released on bail, and ordered to wear an electronic monitor that would track his location. He wriggled out of it not long after, and "went into hiding."
Whether Gosse is granted bail yet again remains to be seen.
