An Alberta girl has won the Pan Kids International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Florida.A Cochrane local, 13-year-old Annalise "Pena" Gale won gold at what is known as one of the largest and most prestigious Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments in the world for kids. Stu Gale, Anna's father, posted on Facebook announcing the win stating "Words can’t express how proud I am of her. She went out there with focus, heart, and grit — and showed the world exactly what she’s made of. All the hard work, the training, the sacrifices — it paid off in the biggest way today."He goes on to thank her coach, Dallas O'Regan, "and the entire Team DOBJJ family for the guidance, support, and belief in her. And of course her mom Erin with endless dedication and tireless effort. None of this happens without it.".Dallas O'Regan is a Cochrane Jiu Jitsu black belt coach. Gale was reported by Cochrane Now last year to be competing in the first ever ADCC junior championship in Las Vegas last August, with athletes from all over North and South America. She also participated in the Pan Kids American Championship last year. In the same report by Cochrane Now, it was noted last year Gale had over 115 wins and has now been studying Jiu-Jitsu for over three years.
