The Alberta Prosperity Project (APP) has congratulated Premier Danielle Smith for winning the election. .“Your triumph is not just a testament to your dedicated campaign efforts, but also a reflection of the trust and hope that Albertans have placed in you,” said the APP in a Monday letter to Smith. .Albertans spoke and re-elected Smith on Monday. .READ MORE: UCP WINS: Smith set to lead province for next four years.The Alberta United Conservative Party was leading or elected in 50 ridings compared to 37 for the NDP as of 11:40 p.m. .“To paraphrase our old friend Ralph Klein, welcome to another Miracle on the Prairies,” said Smith. .While the APP celebrates the milestone, it said it's important to remember the challenges ahead. It added Smith’s victory “gives you a mandate from Albertans who have grown tired of the persistent mistreatment from Ottawa and the Federal Government of Canada.” .The letter went on to say her campaign raised the hopes of many Albertans who believe in the province’s potential to flourish on its own terms. It said her promise to uphold Alberta sovereignty within Canada resonated with many and played a key role in her success. .The advocacy group assured her of its support for her quest to bring freedom, prosperity, and respect to Alberta. However, its support does not mean it will shy away from challenging her when necessary. .The APP called the Alberta independence movement “no longer just a whisper; it is growing into a formidable voice that cannot be ignored.” It represents a significant section of Albertans who believe in the potential of an independent province, and it expects its politicians to heed this call. .While she has been successful now, the letter said she will face hurdles and opposition. It asked her to remember it's often in the face of adversary when true leadership is forged. .“In closing, we hope that your tenure as premier will be marked by courage, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to Alberta and its people,” said the APP. .“We look forward to seeing you uphold the promises you have made and guiding Alberta towards a prosperous future.” .The APP praised Smith and former Alberta UCP leadership candidates Todd Loewen and Bill Rock in June for promising to enact the Alberta Sovereignty Act (ASA) if they become premier. .READ MORE: Alberta Prosperity Project acknowledges three UCP leadership candidates.“We congratulate the three leadership candidates on being the first to publicly recognize the urgent need for change, and we encourage all candidates to also address the dilemma that Alberta is in,” said the APP. .It said the ASA “acknowledges that the relationship between Alberta and the Government of Canada is broken.”
