The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating a police shooting in Strathcona County that left a man seriously injured.The incident occurred on the morning of July 28, when an RCMP officer spotted a man in the secure parking lot of the Strathcona County detachment. Believing the man had a firearm, the officer radioed for assistance.Several officers responded and entered the lot, where they located the man and gave him verbal commands. Four officers then discharged their firearms, hitting the man multiple times..The officers began first aid immediately. The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is expected to survive. No officers were injured.Investigators later recovered a BB gun at the scene.ASIRT is now reviewing the use of force in the incident. The agency, which handles serious or sensitive allegations involving Alberta police, said no further details will be released at this time.
