Chris Lysak, the first of four charged with conspiracy to commit murder from the Coutts border arrests, was denied release from custody after he was denied bail at a hearing Tuesday..Lysak also faces charges of uttering threats, possession of a weapon and mischief to property over $5,000..Lysak heard Justice Vaughan Hartigan’s bail decision over video link, tuning in from Lethbridge Correctional Centre..Four individuals were charged with conspiracy to commit murder on February 14 after RCMP found a cache of firearms in three trailers in Coutts..The other three accused, Jerry Morin, Chris Carbert and Anthony Olienick, will have their bail hearings Wednesday, Thursday and Friday respectively..The RCMP said they were tipped off to the small organized group within the larger Coutts protest..“Information was received that this group had access to a cache of firearms with a large quantity of ammunition,” said RCMP in a release..“The group was said to have a willingness to use force against the police if any attempts were made to disrupt the blockade..“As a result of this investigation, the Alberta RCMP executed a search warrant during the early hours of Feb. 14, on three trailers associated to this criminal organization.”.Organizers at the Coutts border blockade protest said they were not associated with this group in any way and “condemn their actions 100%.”.Ewa Sudyk is a reporter with the Western Standard.,.esudyk@westernstandardonline.com
