Two men from British Columbia have been arrested in connection with the assassination of a businessman in Mississauga, Ontario.Aman Aman and Digvijay Digvijay, both 21, were subsequently charged with first-degree murder.According to Peel Regional Police, the incident took place shortly before noon on May 14 in a parking lot near Tranmere Dr. and Telford Way. The suspects allegedly approached the victim, 51-year-old Harjeet Dhadda, as he was nearing his transportation safety and insurance company, G&G Trucking Solutions. They opened fire, striking him multiple times.Dhadda was rushed to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries. The suspects, meanwhile, fled the scene in a black Dodge Challenger and eventually made their way back to Delta, BC..On May 28, officers with the Peel Regional Police, Delta Police Department, Abbotsford Police, Surrey Police Service, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police tracked the pair down and took them into custody. They appeared before a justice in Surrey before being transported back to Ontario to be tried for their alleged crimes.The the suspects were not previously known to the Delta Police Department.. "The swift apprehension of these violent individuals is a testament to the coordinated efforts between law enforcement agencies across the country."In an interview with CityNews, Dhadda's daughter revealed that her father had been repeatedly targeted by extortionists from India, and that a demand of $500,000 was made shortly before his death. He refused to pay.Officers have not confirmed or denied whether the killing was tied to the alleged extortion plot, though they did say all possibilities are being explored.
