A search party located the body of five-year-old Frank Young in the river on the Red Earth Cree Nation, near where he was reported missing April 19, 2022..On Saturday, just after 7 pm, the Carrot River RCMP received information Young was found, but had passed away..“This is not how anyone wanted the search for Frank to end. Our deepest condolences are with Frank’s family, loved ones, and community who have been greatly impacted by this tragedy,” said Sgt. Richard Tonge, Carrot River RCMP detachment commander..“We would like to thank everyone within the community and beyond who assisted in the search for Frank.”.Further investigation into Young’s death is taking place, but so far “there is no indication of suspicious circumstances.”.The Carrot River RCMP and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service are working together in the investigation..“But as he was just located, further investigative steps will be taken, including working in partnership with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and an autopsy will take place,” said Tonge..Red Earth Cree Nation Chief Fabian Head shared the news in a Facebook post..“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the discovery of Frank Young on Saturday, July 9th,” Head wrote on Facebook..“We will be holding a media conference and will release more information at that time. For now, we ask for your prayers and continued support during our time of grief.”.In the weeks following Young’s disappearance, there were extensive search parties with volunteers coming from across Saskatchewan to help with the search..His family was notified before any information was released to the public.
