Premier David Eby has announced that government-owned liquor stores in British Columbia will no longer stock any alcohol from the United States of America.
He defended his initial decision to target Republican states, but argued that things had reached a point where people no longer wanted to see any American products on store shelves.
"If the president is so interested in Canadian water, we're gonna help him out by letting him keep his watery beer," Eby said during a press conference on Monday. "We are removing the rest of the American liquor products from the shelves of BC Liquor stores."
He explained that the move, which will impact "wine, distilled products, and beer," was made in response to "the escalating threats that we're seeing from the United States."
Eby went on to suggest that British Columbians are beginning to get a certain "feeling" when they see American products, declaring, "we don't even want to see them on the shelf any more."
