Elon Musk has brought attention to an Islamist conference hosted by a designated terrorist group set to take place in Ontario on January 18.
The story was first broken by the Western Standard.
In a post on X, Musk asked Community Notes whether reports of the conference were "accurate," alongside a screenshot of the article originally shared by user Dr. Maalouf.
The answer was a resounding yes, with many users sharing evidence of its existence.
The conference was organized by Hizb ut-Tahrir, a group that has been banned in all Arab countries except Lebanon, Yemen, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as most of Central Asia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Russia, China, Turkey, Germany, and the UK.
It was originally slated to take place in Mississauga, however recent reports have suggested it has been moved to nearby Hamilton following backlash.
