Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Georgina Sparks in the hit series Gossip Girl is dead at 39 years of age, with the cause of death still unknown.
Trachtenberg played the antagonist to Blake Lively’s Serena van der Woodsen in the 2007 TV show. She was also in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Harriet the Spy.
Police on Wednesday confirmed the news to the New York Post, and said the actress’s tragic death is not being investigated as suspicious.
Trachtenberg was found dead by her mother at 8 a.m. Wednesday at luxury apartment complex One Columbus Place, a 51-story building in Manhattan’s Central Park South neighborhood.
The NYP reported Trachtenberg recently underwent a liver transplant.
Trachtenberg was a child star from the age of three, when she began working with Nickelodeon.
In 2021, the actress alleged Buffy creator Joss Whedon, then 55, physically abused her during filming. As a result, a rule was put in place barring him from being alone in a room with her.
