A 26-year-old woman and her 5-month-old child were killed near Comox Lake on Thursday after a tree fell on them in what police are calling a tragic accident.Comox Valley RCMP officers, along with BC Emergency Health Services and the Cumberland Fire Department, responded to the incident at 1:44 p.m. Despite the efforts of first responders, the woman died at the scene. The infant was taken to hospital but did not survive.Police say there is no indication of criminality, and the BC Coroners Service is investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.Out of respect for the family, no additional details have been released. RCMP extended condolences to those affected and thanked bystanders who tried to help in what they described as heartbreaking conditions.
