Calgary lawyer Katherine Kowalchuk is angered over a ruling from the Alberta courts barring her client from stopping the vaccination of his children against COVID-19..In order to protect the medical privacy of the parents and children named in the litigation, the full names of all parties have been withheld from the public..The parents, who divorced in 2014, share custody of the children and have shared the responsibility for their care, but tensions rose around the decision to have the children vaccinated against COVID-19..While the mother was for the children getting vaccinated the father was not. The issue made its way into the Alberta courts and on Tuesday, Justice Johnna C. Kubik ruled in favour of the mother granting her the right to have the children vaccinated against their father’s wishes..Kowalchuk, with law firm Getz Collins and Associated, called the ruling upsetting and has agreed to speak with the Western Standard in an exclusive interview about the court case and Justice Kubik’s ruling handed down in the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta on Tuesday.
