Calgary police uncovered additional details to help find a suspect in an aggravated sexual assault investigation after extensive efforts spanning 16 years. .And in a move that Edmonton police apologized for using, the Calgary Police Service is releasing details about the suspect's ethnicity..“As new technologies and tactics develop, investigators are able to shed new light on older cases," said Calgary police Staff Sgt. It said with this new information, it is again asking for the public’s assistance to identify the suspect. .An 18-year-old woman was walking through a school field on 47 Ave. SE in 2006 when she was attacked by a man riding a bicycle. The victim was sexually assaulted and stabbed numerous times during the attack. .It's believed the perpetrator sustained injuries and might have sought medical care after the incident. The suspect was described as 18 to 20 years old, 5-ft. 7-in. to 5-ft 10-in., 140 to 150-lbs with a slim build, dark-brown hair in a crewcut style, and bushy eyebrows..The release said using genetic genealogy, Calgary police’s sexual assault investigation team determined the suspect’s ancestral background is South Asian.
