An evangelist in Hamilton who attended the inauguration of Donald Trump is organizing 40 days of prayer for Canada, believing the country is in a “desperate position.”
Solomon Davies Ikhuiwu, founder of God Heal Our Land, says the inauguration prayer breakfast in Washington, D.C. attracted former ambassadors and prime ministers, and faith leaders from America and abroad.
“When people heard we were from Canada, the next thing we heard was, ‘Are you guys okay? Is everything okay back there,’ I was so surprised that a lot of Americans knew what was going on back in our country. And of course, there was a lot of concern,” Davies recalled.
“The Lord made clear to me that so many around the world are praying for Canada--but are Canadians praying for Canada? So, these are desperate times. We need to get on our knees and pray into 2 Chronicles 7:14.”
The passage refers to a divine promise to Israel’s King Solomon made almost 3,000 years ago: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Davies and those who accompanied him were invigorated by their visit to D.C.
“We were so inspired by what we saw, what we heard, and we came back to Canada believing that God also wants to do something great in Canada. So, we must believe for that. This is God, He has our comeback planned, and it has officially begun as we come together to pray.”
Davies launched a nationwide prayer meetingThursday to be held nightly at 9 pm eastern time. The meetings, held on YouTube, Facebook, and Zoom, will continue 40 days until March 10 — or perhaps until Parliament resumes. He believes prayer helped change U.S. leadership and the same could happen here.
“There's a saying when God is moving down the street from you, there's a good chance He’s coming down where you are. I believe God is knocking at the door of Canada. So, it's an exciting time to pray,” Davies said.
The prayer launch came exactly three years after Davies led a crowd to pray at the Freedom Convoy in Ottawa.
“I stood in front of over 50,000 people…praying into Psalm 27 which [said], ‘We will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living,’ which is Canada,” Davies remembered.
Since then, the nation’s public debts and euthanasia regime have advanced even further. These and other problems leave Canada in what Davies calls “a desperate position” and a “state of emergency.”
“Canada is falling apart. Like, so many things are going wrong, and, more than ever, it's time we cry out to God for help. I love the part of the Canadian national anthem that says, ‘God keep our land…glorious and free.’ That's a prayer right there, right?” said Davies.
Davies’ online prayer gathering will be livestreamed at Facebook.com/solo.davies and Youtube.com/@3rdheaven. Others have organized a 24/7 national online prayer meeting at Canadianfirewall.ca.
“This is about contending for Canada's prophetic destiny. If we don't contend right now, we may end up in a disastrous place,” Davies said. “Canada is on the verge of an awakening, a renewal, and this is a divine opportunity for us to pray collectively as country, for our nation to be healed.”
