Direct Energy Regulated Services has announced a decrease in regulated natural gas rates for June 2025 for customers in Alberta who do not have a competitive supplier, with the new rates applying to both ATCO Gas North and South service territories. For customers in the ATCO Gas North service area — which includes regions in and north of Red Deer — the June rate will drop from $2.419 per gigajoule (GJ) in May to $1.775 per GJ. A typical residential customer consuming 3 GJ of gas would see a monthly bill of about $72.Customers in the ATCO Gas South service area — covering regions south of Red Deer — will see the same rate decrease from $2.419 to $1.775 per GJ. A typical residential bill in this region would amount to approximately $58.The rate reflects a market price of about $1.821 per GJ for June supplies, according to NGX data, and includes a $-0.047 per GJ adjustment for May and previous months. Differences in bill totals between the North and South territories are due to variations in transmission and distribution charges set by ATCO Gas.The Alberta Utilities Commission has verified and approved the calculation method used by Direct Energy Regulated Services.
