The Liberal government's catch-and-release criminal policies have struck yet again, as another criminal out on bail has gone on a crime spree, this time in northwest Edmonton. Cody Slade Desjarlais, 32, has been charged by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) with a list of offences: attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of stolen property, driving while prohibited, breach of release order, possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, failing to stop after an accident, theft of a motor vehicle, and two counts of dangerous operation.“We remain hopeful that the justice system will hold this individual accountable for his offences," Acting Inspector Eric Stewart with the EPS’ Investigative Response Team said.On July 4, 2025, Desjarlais was released on bail, following an Oct. 2024 injury collision involving two women and a child.He was facing 27 charges before the courts, including impaired driving, prior to this recent incident..Violent Ontario criminal out on bail after machete attack attempts to set Muslim woman on fire.At approximately 11:44 a.m. on July 16, 2025, it was reported to police that a white sedan had been stolen in the area of 129 Ave. and 97 St.Later that day, around 7:45 p.m., a white sedan was involved in a hit-and-run collision, striking a cyclist in the area of 123 Ave. and 97 St.The 59-year-old cyclist was treated and transported to hospital by emergency services with non-life-threatening injuries.Roughly 15 minutes later, Desjarlais allegedly attacked a 40-year-old man, stabbing him multiple times with an edged weapon before fleeing the scene in the area of 132 Ave. and 83rd St.The victim was treated at the scene by EMS and transported to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.He is currently in stable condition..Accused Edmonton killer out on bail attacks police officer.Police were later able to identify the vehicle and took Desjarlais into custody, where he currently remains.None of the victims were known to each other or Desjarlais.“This individual posed a serious and unpredictable threat to public safety,” Insp.
