Edmonton police have found the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run last year that killed a 13-year-old boy in the city’s southeast, but are still looking for the driver.The collision happened around 4:05 a.m. on May 29, 2024, when a young cyclist was struck at 48 St. and 34 Ave. Paramedics treated the boy on scene, but he died a short time later.Investigators with the Edmonton Police Service’s Major Collision Investigations Section issued an initial public appeal the day of the crash and released video of the suspect vehicle — a blue 2017 Mazda 3 sedan — in July this year.Police say tips from the public led them to the Mazda at an Edmonton repair shop. No repairs or alterations had been made to it. Officers have not disclosed when or where the car was found.A/Sgt. Chris Deslaurier said locating the car has provided valuable new evidence and urged anyone with information about the collision or the driver to come forward.Anyone with details is asked to contact EPS or Crime Stoppers.
