A five-foot-long pet boa constrictor that escaped its enclosure has been found near Comox, BC.The BC Conservation Officer Service said it "does not believe" there is any link between this case and that of a six-foot-long boa that went missing on Tofino's Chesterman Beach and was subsequently caputured earlier this month..According to the COS, the reptile was tracked down and captured around 1 p.m. on June 26 in Miracle Beach Provincial Park, which sits about half way between Comox and Campbell River."Due to its length, the boa constrictor was determined to be a restricted reptile under the Controlled Alien Species regulation, which means that while a permit is not required to own it, they cannot be released under any circumstances," the COS wrote in a post on Facebook, adding that conservation officers are "investigating the circumstances of this incident, which may result in enforcement action.".They explained that this was far from the first time the COS has had to search for exotic animals, noting that over the past 10 or so years, officers have "captured lions, alligators and monkeys." Oh my!"Controlled Alien Species are not native to BC and are not considered wildlife," the agency added. "The Province regulates all interactions with CAS to ensure public safety.".SSSSSSSSSSix-foot boa constrictor caught after slithering away from owner at popular Tofino beach.Bailey, the snake that went missing in Tofino, was caught just days later..According to the Coastal Animal Rescue & Education Network, he was found "snoozing in the depths of his person’s kayak."
