An Ontario doctor with her licence to practice suspended since 2021 for issuing medical exemptions for COVID-19 vaccines has qualified optimism following a recent hearing.A tribunal for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) held two days of hearings for Owen Sound, Ont. emergency room doctor Rochagne Kilian on January 22 and 23. In an interview with Western Standard, Kilian said the hearings “went as well as we possibly could have hoped for.”"This was the first time that I was able to testify, and I do believe that made a difference," she says. For four hours, her lawyer questioned her, allowing her to present her case and the rationale behind her clinical decisions. To her surprise, the college's cross-examination lasted about eight minutes.Kilian has had her hopes dashed before. She fought to preserve the anonymity of 519 patients whom she gave hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin, but courts forced her to hand the records to the CPSO unredacted..Hearings wrap up for Ontario doctor suspended for giving COVID vax exemptions."We thought it went well with every single court case we had," she recounts. "I think it's difficult to be objective where you know you're speaking the truth, and your lawyer did an amazing job presenting the case and the law behind it--but we lost."Another curveball followed the end of the hearing on January 23.“Just before we're finishing, the college representative or college lawyer basically said that she is just confirming that none of my affidavits will be added as … facts or truth or something like that…And my lawyer says, ‘That's not correct.’”The doctor explains, "The affidavit is really where all of the proof of what I said in my testifying on Wednesday, as well as all of the relevant data and backing to say where, what stance I took, I have been justified."Kilian said her ongoing experience suggests, "It really isn't about resolution or remediation at all,” as the college employs "little tricks to try to play the game and make it difficult.""There really is not very much oversight in how these investigations [are] happening. So, it's a regulatory body that is given certain jurisdictions to do things, but there's no audit or oversight on how it's done," she explains. The college, Killian argues, re-enforces a model of healthcare that prioritizes pharmaceutical interventions over more holistic approaches."If they don't silence me or make me think that I cannot be autonomous and independent, their whole business model and functioning model falls apart," she asserts. "There's so many physicians and just general practitioners in the past that have seen value in using alternative medicines or alternative treatments, and they have been silenced in a very similar way than I have.”A week after Kilian spoke at the freedom convoy in 2022, she and her husband were told her bank account was frozen."We received a letter from our bank…and they said that we are two high-risk clients, that we need to close our bank accounts with them, our personal and business," she recounts. With Kilian’s physician income gone, the couple sold their house to make ends meet. But when the money came in from the sale, the transaction was flagged as fraud, leaving their accounts frozen once more. However, the mortgage had been with the same bank, leaving her unable to understand the designation.Their account at a new bank was frozen last year for less than 4,000 in unpaid taxes following an audit, and Canada Revenue Agency reportedly took all that was there.“We even spoke to our insurance broker, and he said this is so irregular. He's got clients that have owed taxes for over 10 years, and they've never had their bank accounts frozen,” Kilian says.Kilian says God has been faithful to care for her family amidst the consequences of standing for “truth” instead of “mistruth.”"It comes with a cost, and if you are not willing to see it through… don’t do it from the beginning, because then it brings heartache and loss and financial implications and all of that without any gain,” she says.“In my mind, the reward really doesn't matter, because our reward is not from this earth. It's from where we go after this.”
