Hackers have infiltrated and disabled the GiveSendGo donation website as of Sunday night..The fundraising website was taken offline after hackers targeted the Freedom Convoy campaign that has amassed more than $8.6 million to support truckers protesting COVID-19 mandates across Canada..The front page of the site was temporarily replaced with a video from the Disney film Frozen along with a message referring to the Freedom Convoy as an “insurrection” led by “known extremists.”.The hackers claim to have stolen the list of donors and have shared the names with a third-party website that is now offering to provide the names to the media..The Freedom Convoy originally raised more than $10 million on the donation site GoFundMe but the site was frozen and funds were seized for refund to donors on February 3..Another donation site — GiveSendGo — was chosen and within less than a week, raised more than $8.4 million. On Wednesday, the Ontario Government tried to shut down the donation site and said those having any dealings with money donated to the Freedom Convoy were committing an “illegal” act..GiveSendGo rejected Ontario’s ruling and said, “Canada has absolutely ZERO jurisdiction over how we manage our funds here at GiveSendGo.”.The GiveSendGo website is not accessible as of Monday morning, nor can its press release be opened..More to come….Melanie Risdon is a reporter with the Western Standard.,.mrisdon@westernstandardonline.com
