The Winnipeg Blue Bombers ended a 29-year drought and are keeping the Grey Cup in the West..The Blue Bombers thrashed the favoured Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33-12, in the 107th Grey Cup, one year after the Calgary Stampeders were victorious..Bombers’ running back Andrew Harris was named both most valuable player and top Canadian. Earlier this year he was suspended for using performance enhancing drugs..It’s the first time in CFL history the top Canadian was also named most valuable player..The Tabbies shot themselves in the foot with more turnovers than a bakery..Hamilton started the first quarter seemingly battling a case of the nerves, committing three turnovers..A fumble set up a 15-yard Andrew Harris rubber as Winnipeg took an early lead 7-0, with a successful extra point..Harris scored a receiving touchdown in the second quarter..Towards the end of the third quarter, Hamilton scored a TD to make things more interesting. They failed on the two point conversion. That was as close as they were to get. Winnipeg kicked a field goal and it was 27-12 at the end of the third quarter..It had been 29 years since Winnipeg last won a Great Cup, for Hamilton it is now 12 years..After a pre-game set at McMahon Stadium by The Beaches, Calgary singer Lindsey Kelley belted out O’ Canada and after a thunderous CF-18 fly-by, the game was on under temperatures of 4C..At the half, the crowd was dancing as country star Keith Urban played an energetic 12-minute set..Attendance for the game was 35,439.
