A Calgary man with a lifetime firearms ban is facing multiple charges after police seized three loaded handguns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and more than $320,000 worth of illegal drugs from a southeast apartment.The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) organized crime unit, with assistance from the Calgary Police Service, executed a search warrant on May 22, at a residence in the Seton neighbourhood. Investigators seized 2,002 grams of cocaine, 2,008 grams of methamphetamine, and $51,000 in cash, along with three handguns — two of which were previously reported stolen from Redcliff and Pincher Creek..“The combination of drugs and handguns yield a considerable threat to community safety,” said Staff Sgt. Hayley Marquis with ALERT Calgary. “We continue to work with our partners to target dangerous offenders.”The suspect, Kay-Jay Swann, was already under a lifetime firearms prohibition stemming from a previous drug conviction. He now faces charges including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and multiple firearms-related offences.Swann had been under investigation by ALERT since April.
