A member of the Hells Angels Alberta Nomads chapter faces multiple charges after being caught with a handgun during an alleged assault in Red Deer earlier this month.Owen Czech, 55, was arrested on November 13, 2024, by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams’ (ALERT) Integrated Gang Enforcement Team. Police found Czech in possession of a Glock handgun and multiple magazines, despite conditions prohibiting him from possessing firearms.“Despite their best efforts to portray themselves as nothing more than motorcycle enthusiasts, the Hells Angels routinely find themselves involved in criminal activity and are a threatening presence in our communities,” said Insp. Angela Kemp of ALERT.Czech and two other members of the Syndicate Motorcycle Club, a known Hells Angels support club, were intercepted by police while allegedly committing an assault. Authorities say Czech attempted to hide the firearm in a vehicle when officers intervened.Czech has been charged with several offences, including:AssaultUnauthorized possession of a firearmPossession of a weapon for a dangerous purposeCarrying a concealed weaponFailing to comply with a release orderHe remains in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing on November 27, 2024.ALERT’s Integrated Gang Enforcement Team focuses on suppressing violence and combatting gang activity across Alberta.
