Outlaw motorcycle gang members, including those affiliated with the Hells Angels, are expected to descend on the Calgary area this weekend for a planned gathering, prompting a heightened police presence across the city. The Calgary Police Service (CPS) said it will step up patrols beginning Friday, to monitor gang members and ensure all laws, including the Traffic Safety Act, are followed. Authorities emphasized they do not anticipate an elevated risk to public safety.“Motorcycle gangs host several events across Canada every year and historically these types of gatherings have passed without incident,” CPS said in a statement. “The CPS, however, will be enforcing laws with this group as we would with any citizen.”Police urged residents to report any suspicious activity related to outlaw motorcycle gangs by calling 911 in an emergency, the CPS non-emergency line at 403-266-1234, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers via 1-800-222-8477, www.calgarycrimestoppers.org, or the P3 Tips app.
