Hundreds of people descended upon Canada Place Tuesday morning to take part in the 37th annual Pan Pacific Christmas Wish Breakfast. In exchange for gifts, attendees received a complimentary breakfast and some holiday cheer..The event kicked off at 6 a.m., but most arrived later. By 7 a.m., the lineup was hundreds of people long. Some brought stuffed animals or books, while others had electronics or bicycles. The most generous gave Santa Claus a run for his money, arriving with sleighs packed full of goodies..Once upstairs, attendees gave their gifts to a team of people who then deposited them on the pile behind them, which quickly grew from a hill to a mountain..Outside, off-duty firefighters and members of Vancouver Firefighter Charities collected even more toys, before loading them into awaiting box trucks to be transported to those in need.The group later revealed that it had raised a whopping $226,299 for its Toys for Kids program..Inside the dining hall, people enjoyed their breakfast, which as per usual consisted of croissants, sausages, eggs, and potatoes. The event has grown over the years to become among the most anticipated of the holiday season in Vancouver, and on the morning of, the area around Canada Place is always buzzing.
