The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) is representing a man who could be out on parole, but has been denied halfway house residence due to his vaccine status..The JCCF has filed a court action representing N.M., a 33-year-old man serving a two-and-a-half-year sentence for undisclosed crimes..N.M. was granted day parole on February 10, 2022, with support from his parole officer and the Correctional Service of Canada..He would have been released into the custody of a community-based residential facility, but Saint Leonard’s Society rescinded its offer to host him because of his vaccination status, so he remains in prison..The court action is against the Attorney General of Canada and the Saint Leonard’s Society of Hamilton..“N.M. has declined the vaccine due to its lack of long-term safety data as well as the demonstrated risk of the serious side effect of myocarditis for young men,” said JCCF in the press release..“Vaccine manufacturers and medical officials have stated publicly that the available COVID vaccines do not stop the infection or transmission of COVID.”.JCCF wants to convince the courts to strike down vaccine mandates, in this case because M.N. could stay in prison much longer than his sentence because of the mandate..“The Justice Centre is concerned about people being jailed when they are legally eligible to reside in halfway houses,” said Sayeh Hassan, staff lawyer with the Justice Centre..“These people must receive a medical treatment under duress or coercion, or stay in jail. There is no free choice under these circumstances..“Inmates are some of the most vulnerable individuals in our society, and already have minimal control over their bodies and their surroundings..“To coerce these individuals to be injected with a vaccine that has no long-term safety data and that has proven serious side effects including myocarditis, as a condition of enjoying their freedom, goes against principles of natural justice.”.Ewa Sudyk is a reporter with the Western Standard.,.esudyk@westernstandardonline.com
