The BC NDP have reached an agreement with the BC Greens that will see the latter support the former on confidence motions.The agreement is set to be finalized in January 2025."The NDPC and the BCGC have a shared commitment to ensuring stable governance that is focused on delivering progress and tangible outcomes for British Columbians," the document reads. "Accordingly, they agree to form this political agreement (accord) to work together on the following shared initiatives and cooperate in the legislative process to ensure good governance and respect for our democratic institutions.""The agreement (accord) between the BCGC and the NDPC will provide a four-year framework for cooperation and responsible government," it continues. "This agreement is subject to annual renewal at the sole discretion of each of the Parties. As part of annual renewal discussions, the Parties will review implementation of the agreement, outcomes achieved, and work together to identify new and renewed policy initiatives, deliverables and budget implications for the future years."The agreement goes on to list a number of policy areas that the Greens will agree to support the NDP on, including health care, mental health care, housing, renters protection, homelessness, transit, climate, environment, social and economic justice, taxation, and democratic and electoral reform.In return, the NDP promised the Greens the opening of Community Health Centres in 2025/26, $50 million in public coverage for psychologist visits, a review of CleanBC and BC forests, an expansion of SAFER, a committee to increase voter participation, and a promise to consider a proportional representation.The Government House Leader and their Greens' counterpart will "establish a relationship of trust based on good faith and no surprises for the duration of this Agreement."More to come...
