The Ministry of Social Services (MSS) had a massive payment system error, with approximately 175 people on Saskatchewan's income assistance receiving an extra two zeros on their payment..For someone receiving $1,000 each month, it jumped to $100,000..The affected recipients could not cash out as the error was discovered quickly and the banks gave the government back its money,.As of Thursday night, the MSS is still trying to find out how much money was sent out by accident and make sure it made no other errors..In an MSS statement, it said the government discovered the error “within hours of the payment going out” and had the banks fix the error..For those affected, MSS sent the correct amounts out on Thursday..The MSS statement also said it had staff call all the affected clients to explain the error..The Microsoft enterprise payment system was the problem and affected other organizations around the world, according to the MSS statement.
