A man is dead following a confrontation with RCMP officers in Lac La Biche on Saturday morning.According to Alberta RCMP, officers were called to a disturbance at a local residence around 11:47 a.m. on Sunday. Three officers responded, and during the encounter, the man allegedly attacked one of them with a knife. One of the other officers then shot the man.Despite attempts to save his life, the suspect died at the scene.The injured officer was treated at hospital and has since been released.RCMP said it immediately notified the Director of Law Enforcement, and the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been directed to investigate the actions of the police.RCMP have also launched an internal review to assess the incident, including training, policy, police response, and the officer’s duty status. The RCMP says it is fully cooperating with ASIRT, which is now handling all media inquiries.
