Matthew Gaudreau's wife, Madeline, has given birth to their son, Tripp Matthew.
The news comes four months after Matthew, 29, and his brother, 31-year-old Johnny, were killed by an alleged drunk driver.
Mrs. Gaudreau announced the news via Instagram, sharing a picture of little Tripp.
"Mommy & Daddy's world," she wrote.
Over a thousand people commented, leaving words of encouragement for the still grieving new mother.
"So happy he's here safe," one user wrote. "You now have a part of Matthew with you."
Another reminded Mrs. Gaudreau that Tripp has "got a lot of love here and in heaven, surrounding and watching over him."
The Gaudreau brothers were killed on August 30 while out for a bike ride in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, near their hometown. Sean Higgins, 43, was arrested and subsequently charged with two counts of reckless vehicular homicide, two counts of aggravated manslaughter, tampering with physical evidence and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Since then, the family has received an outpouring of support, largely from the hockey community. The Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames, where Johnny spent the bulk of his career, both went above and beyond for the Gaudreaus.
A GoFundMe was set up in the wake of their deaths to help Madeline raise their soon-to-be new son as a single mother. It quickly blew past the $30,000 goal, reaching upwards of $859,000.
Matthew was quite eager to be a father, as Mrs. Gaudreau recalled in her emotional testimony.
"The moment we found out about our son, Tripp, it consumed his every day," she said, per TMZ. "He was downloading apps, ordering books, finding the best diaper brands. Making sure I had the best vitamins and asking for tips from John."
