A high school in Medicine Hat has decided to drop its sports teams’ moniker because they were offensive to Indigenous people..For decades, the sports teams at the Medicine Hat high school have been called the Mohawks for boys and Kwahommies for girls..But Thursday, school officials announced they were dropping the name after years of complaints..Principal Boris Grisonich announced the name-change to students who were gathering back this week for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down Alberta schools..
