It turns out monsters really do hide under our beds.
A late-night babysitting job turned into a terrifying ordeal when a woman discovered a man hiding under a child's bed in a home just outside Great Bend, Kansas
According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. on Monday to a residence following a disturbance call.
The babysitter told authorities she was putting the children to bed when one of them mentioned a "monster" under their bed. When she checked, she came face-to-face with a man hiding there.
A struggle broke out, during which one of the children was knocked over.
The suspect fled before deputies arrived.
The victim identified him as 27-year-old Martin Villalobos Jr., a former resident of the home who was subject to a protection from abuse order barring him from the property.
Deputies searched for Villalobos that night but were unable to locate him. The following morning, authorities spotted him again. He attempted to flee but was caught after a short foot chase.
Villalobos was arrested and booked into the Barton County Jail on multiple felony charges, including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, child endangerment, felony obstruction, and violating a protection order.
He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
