Homicide investigators are probing what they say appears to be a murder-suicide involving an elderly couple found dead inside an Abbotsford home on Monday.Abbotsford police were called to a reported dispute at a residence on the 36000 block of McKee Rd. just before 8 p.m. Officers discovered the bodies of an 80-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman inside the home.The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in and is working with the Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit, the department’s Forensic Identification Service, and the BC Coroners Service.Investigators say early evidence indicates the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide and involved intimate-partner violence. They believe it was an isolated incident and say there is no ongoing risk to the public.“This was a tragic incident and a shock to the community,” said Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “We extend our thoughts to the emergency personnel, the family members of the deceased, and members of the immediate community who may be affected by this event.”Authorities are encouraging anyone affected to seek support through Victim Services.
