Disney’s latest remake of Snow White appears to have lost much of its Disney magic.

Despite decades of children loving the 1937 classic movie, the new version feels more like a forced lesson in communist ideology than a timeless fairy tale.

The movie seems to be inspired by Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto, complete with messages about sharing everything and owning nothing.

At the screening I went to with my wife and daughter, the theatre was almost empty.

We literally made up half of the entire audience.

The almost completely empty theatre alone says a great deal about public interest in this remake.

Adding fuel to the controversy, actor Rachel Zegler labelled the original story “extremely dated” and blasted the iconic prince as a “stalker.”

Zegler also decided to scrap the signature Some Day My Prince Will Come song.

The changes also extend to the seven dwarfs, or rather, the absence of the seven dwarfs.

Bill Maher took aim at this choice on his show, pointing out that many dwarfs rely on limited acting roles.

According to Maher, the progressive move to exclude dwarfs ends up being anything but progressive.

Disney could have supported inclusivity by offering the roles to dwarf actors, rather than eliminating them entirely and using computer-generated images.

Over the last month, Disney’s share value has reportedly dropped by more than $30 billion USD since early March.

While it is impossible to blame one movie alone, Disney’s recent string of underwhelming releases and controversies has certainly contributed to a growing unease among shareholders.

If the star of the film cannot even appreciate the original movie, how can the public be expected to embrace the remake?

Ultimately, Snow White has been cherished for generations because of its charming story and memorable characters.

In stripping away much of what made the original special, the new version fails to capture the same Disney movie magic.

By prioritizing “woke” revisions and disregarding beloved elements of the story, Disney risks alienating its loyal fan base, which could potentially spell the end of Disney’s fairy-tale legacy.
