Police in Kamloops have arrested one person following a bust at a local residence.
The investigation, which began with reports of arson, culminated in the seizure of drugs and firearms.
According to the Kamloops RCMP, multiple units descended upon the 1700 block of Brunner Ave. to execute search warrants on February 7. Upon arrival, officers discovered a stash of drugs, including suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine. A handgun, three rifles, and firearm paraphernalia were also recovered.
The Kamloops Crime Reduction Unit, General Investigation Team, and Southeast District Emergency Response Team all participated in the raid and ensuing arrest. The identity of the suspect has not been made public.
"Last week's successful search warrant execution was part of the continuous work that our Crime Reduction Unit and General Investigation Team continue to pursue as part of their investigations," Kamloops RCMP Detachment Commander Supt. Jeff Pelley said, "as we continue to target those involved in drug trafficking and violent crime in our community."
His colleague, CRU Sgt. Jason Pole, applauded the team for successfully "tak[ing] dangerous guns and drugs off our streets."
