Ontario NDP Interim Leader Peter Tabuns has requested Ontario Premier Doug Ford bring forth a plan to provide fourth doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to all people. .“No one in Ontario wants to live through another rash of COVID-19 cases,” said Tabuns in a Monday statement. .“No one wants our loved ones at risk of getting sick.”.Ontario has restricted the second booster shot to people 60 years old or older and indigenous people aged 18 years old or older three months after the first booster. .Tabuns said Ontario needs to be like Quebec with fourth doses, as this province has been providing them to more people for weeks. He added it is time for Ford to tell Ontarians what his plan is. .“The Ontario NDP wants to see immediate, easy, and equitable access to fourth doses — including bringing vaccines directly to people who need home care and making vaccines available in easy-to-access places like community clinics and doctor’s offices,” he said. .Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla announced in March a fourth dose is “necessary” to cope with waning immunity. .Bourla said COVID-19 vaccine technology continues to be developed, and Pfizer is working on a product to provide longer protection. .Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos said Canadians will be required to receive a COVID-19 shot every nine months for the foreseeable future. .“Nine months is very clear and will help people understand why up-to-date is the right way to think about vaccination now,” said Duclos. .“Fully vaccinated makes no sense now.”
