A human trafficking investigation has resulted in over 50 charges being laid against an Ottawa man.Anthony Badibanga-Mukendi, 27, was originally hit with a slew of charges, but dozens more were recently filed when new victims came forward.According to the Ottawa Police Service, Badibanga-Mukendi was arrested in March 2025, with investigators noting that he had "travelled across Canada" and had "allegedly been involved in human trafficking for several years."He was subsequently charged with the following offences:Trafficking in Persons by exercising controlMaterial benefit in traffickingMaterial benefit from sexual servicesProcuringUttering threatsAssault, Assault with a weapon and Assault Causing Bodily HarmForcible confinementMischief to propertyAdvertising another person’s sexual servicesWithhold travel or identity document trafficking a person overPublishing an intimate imageIn a Monday update, law enforcement explained that Badibanga-Mukendi is also alleged to have "perpetrated acts of intimate partner violence, fraud and other criminal offences."The new charges include:Trafficking-related offences AssaultSexual assaultChokingAssault cause bodily harmAggravated assaultHarassmentWithholding/destroying travel/identity documentsAdvertising another person’s sexual servicesForcible confinementPublishing intimate images without consentThe OPS has called on other potential victims to come forward, adding that Badibanga-Mukendi also went by the names Marty, Anton, Tony, Jay, Tighten Jones, and Tones.Anyone with information can contact the Ottawa Police Service Human Trafficking Unit tip line at 613-236-1222 ext. 5625 or email mcm@ottawapolice.ca.
