Calgary police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man believed to be responsible for a violent sexual assault and robbery that occurred earlier this month in a northeast Calgary hotel.The incident took place around 3 p.m. on Friday, May 16, in a hotel located in the 100 block of Freeport Blvd. N.E. Police say the suspect entered a hotel room where he met with an unknown woman. Shortly after arriving, he allegedly threatened the woman with a knife, demanding cash, her cellphone, and access to the room’s safe.According to investigators, the suspect then restrained the victim and sexually assaulted her multiple times before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and the victim’s cellphone.An investigation was launched immediately, and after exhausting all leads, police are now turning to the public in hopes of identifying the suspect.He is described as a man between 20 and 30 years old, standing 5-ft. 8-ins. to 5-ft. 11-ins., between 150 and 200 lbs., with a medium build. He has short black hair and black facial hair, and was last seen wearing a white Puma hoodie, blue or grey pants, and grey running shoes.Anyone with information is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234.
