While trying to quell a caucus revolt because he put the province back into a third COVID-19 lockdown, a new poll released Friday shows a stunning 75% of Albertans are opposed to what he is doing.
The fall from grace is shocking when you consider last April, Kenney had the support of 80% of the population.

“At least half in Saskatchewan (50%), Manitoba (59%), Ontario (65%), and Alberta (75%) now say that their premier is doing a poor job handling the pandemic,” said the poll from the Angus Reid Institute.
“Last April 86% of Albertans said Premier Kenney was doing a good job handling the pandemic. In November, 70% felt this way. Now, just 23% feel Kenney is performing well on this file, a near four-fold decline from a year ago.”
On Tuesday, Kenney put the province into its third lockdown, saying it needed to be done to try and stem the wave of COVID-19 infections he said threatened to overwhelm the hospital system.
In Ontario on Friday, health officials said they were delaying all non-emergency surgeries as they reported a whopping 4,227 new cases.
Officials said the surgical medical staff would be needed to help deal with the influx of new COVID-19 patients.
The good news for public health officials is the top doctors in each province continue to outpace their respective premiers in terms of public approval.
“In Alberta, Dr. Deena Hinshaw receives twice the level of praise as Jason Kenney, though she, alongside Ontario’s Dr. David Williams, receive lower levels than their peers elsewhere in the country,” said the poll.

“Overall, half of Canadians (48%) say that their communities need tighter restrictions to stem rising infections, while 28% disagree. One-quarter (24%) say their community has found the right balance.”
One-in-three Canadians (34%) say that their mental health is poor or terrible. This rises to half among those under the age of 35.
Two-in-five Canadians (43%) say that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has done a good job of handling the pandemic, while 52% say he has done a poor job.
