A poll recently conducted by Gallup has found that the Chinese Communist Party has a higher approval rating than United States President Donald Trump among Canadians.The vast majority of Canadians disapproved of Russian President Vladimir Putin, though the margin between him and his American counterpart was rather slim.According to the poll, when asked whether they "approve or disapprove of the job performance of the leadership" of certain nations, 64% said they had a negative view of the CCP, while for 23% it was positive. When it came to the US, those numbers were 79% and 15%, respectively.The Kremlin came out with 9% approval rating, with 82% saying they were not pleased.Since 2024, the CCP's approval rating among Canadians has risen eight points, though it is still seven points off from its record high in 2018. Approval of those in Washington, DC slid back to previous lows, seen between 2016 and 2020.Canadians' approval of leaders in Ottawa rose 19% since last year, coming in at 59% under the new prime minister, Mark Carney. During his time in office, former prime minister Justin Trudeau saw his approval rating fall from 64% to 40%.
