He told officers he would walk to the hospital, and an officer offered him a ride, provided he submitted to a search. The search revealed stolen property, leading to the arrest of Joey Bigstone, a resident of Slave Lake.Bigstone was charged with possession of property obtained by crime. He was released by a justice of the peace with conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake on July 9.“The Slave Lake RCMP remains committed to holding prolific offenders accountable,” said Staff Sgt. Casey Bruyns. “We brought the suspect before a justice of the peace in hopes that he would be ordered to remain in custody but such was not the result in the end. We understand the community’s concerns and want to assure residents that we will continue to use every legal avenue available to disrupt criminal activity and keep Slave Lake safe.”
