U.S. Vice President JD Vance was firing insults at Europe like ballistic missiles before taking office — emulating his mentor President Donald Trump.
Vance recently lobbed verbal grenades at European officials over a growing culture of tech censorship. They deserved it. In July of 2024, he took aim at the UK over millions of Muslim migrants that have flooded the country in recent years.
In a video circulating on X — Vance said, "I was talking with a friend recently, and we were talking about, you know, one of the big dangers in the world, of course, nuclear proliferation."
Vance continued, "Though, of course, the Biden Administration doesn't care about it. And I was talking about, you know, what is the first truly Islamist country that will get a nuclear weapon. And we were like, maybe it's Iran, you know, maybe Pakistan already kind of counts. And then we sort of finally decided, maybe it's actually the UK, since (the Labor Party) just took over."
The audience at the National Conservatism Conference in Washington, D.C. laughed.
As of the most recent data from the 2021 United Kingdom Census, the Muslim population in England and Wales was recorded at 3,868,133, which equates to 6.5% of the total population of 59.6 million in those regions.
Including estimates for Scotland and Northern Ireland, the total Muslim population across the U.K. is often cited as approximately 3.9 million to 4 million as of 2021.
Comments from Vance and UK population statics are not justification for discrimination against Muslims.
