Joe Rogan has revealed that he invited Pierre Poilievre onto his podcast, only to have the then-Conservative leader's advisors prevent him from making an appearance. The American podcast host has repeatedly expressed admiration for Poilievre, though the two have never sat down and talked one-on-one..While discussing de-banking and the Freedom Convoy with Cameron Hanes during an episode that dropped on Tuesday, Rogan pointed out that the Liberals were responsible for that, and had just been elected to lead Canada for a fourth term."I offered to have that Pierre guy come on the podcast," he said. "Didn't do it. Wouldn't do it. Thought it was too problematic, or whatever."Rogan went on to note that it was Poilievre's advisors who told him not to do it."If they can't talk to you and have a conversation hold up," Hanes replied. "You're not attacking people ... This is like the friend zone."Rogan emphasized that it's long been his policy that if a guest doesn't want to talk about certain things, they don't need to talk about them..Rogan was far from the only host Poilievre refused to be interviewed by during the campaign. He turned down requests from a number of prominent names, including JJ McCullough, Nardwuar, and 22 Minutes. Mark Carney, meanwhile, sat down with the latter two.The Liberals have long tried to paint Poilievre as a Trump-like figure, and given the guests Rogan has had on in the past, an appearance could have opened the floodgates for a wave of new attack ads. That being said, Poilievre and his wife, Anaida, did make an appearance on Over Opinionated with Jasmin Laine. The broadcaster-turned-podcast host has been openly favourable to Trump, and has been pictured wearing a Make [Canada] Great Again hat. Poilievre's team has not spoken publicly about their decision to keep him off Rogan's show.
