Dmitry Svirgunov, a Russian musician who wrote a popular anti-Valdimir Putin song, died after apparently drowning when he fell through the ice of the Volga River..The independent Russian outlet Meduza reported the musician, his brother and three friends crashed through the ice as they tried to cross the river..Svirgunov's band, a popular synth-pop group called Cream Soda, also confirmed his death..The band made their mark with a song about Putin's rural palace — a massive estate on 183 acres, with an adjacent 70,00 acres of land surrounding the estate, which is home to an Italian-style palace that measures an incredible 190,000 sq. ft..The grounds also accommodate an underground hockey rink, helicopter pads, a Las Vegas-style casino, an ’aqua-discotheque’ with swim-up bar, a gigantic church, amphitheater, a sculpture garden and an industrial-sized greenhouse..The estimated cost to build the complex is $US1.37 billion..Cream Soda had a hit called called Aqua Disco, about a room in the palace, which became an anthem of anti-Putin protests..Meduza reported the incident occurred in the village of Dievo-Gorodishche, in Russia’s Yaroslavl region..Svirgunov joins about two dozen top Russian business leaders who died under mysterious circumstances since the invasion of Ukraine.
