Hope RCMP says Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park has been reopened to the public following initial search efforts for a young man missing near the Othello Tunnels, though targeted search operations are set to resume this weekend. On Wednesday, the RCMP’s Underwater Recovery Team searched the river where the man was believed to have entered but were unable to locate him. The following day, Hope Search and Rescue conducted shoreline sweeps and used drones to scan the area, but the individual remains missing.Search and rescue teams plan to resume efforts on Saturday, and public access will again be restricted in specific areas of the park to support the search.“The pools of water where the man was last seen were thoroughly searched in hopes of locating him and providing a level of closure to his family,” said Staff Sergeant Mike Sargent of Hope RCMP. “While he has not yet been found, search efforts remain active and ongoing.”RCMP are asking the public to respect all restricted areas and avoid interfering with search operations.
