BC Highway Patrol is recommending two criminal charges after a semi-tractor towing a trailer struck four parked vehicles in Port Coquitlam on Monday.The incident occurred just before 3:00 p.m. on the Mary Hill Bypass, where witnesses reported the semi-trailer driving erratically. Before police arrived, the vehicle collided with parked cars on Industrial Ave.Cpl. Michael McLaughlin, of BC Highway Patrol, credited an alert citizen for helping police identify the driver. “It is unbelievable that a professional driver would consider operating a vehicle of this size while impaired, and that’s why BC Highway Patrol is recommending criminal charges,” he said.The unidentified driver, a 42-year-old man from Surrey, faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit. His first court appearance is scheduled for March 12, in Port Coquitlam.Additionally, the driver received a 90-day driving prohibition, and his BC driver’s licence was seized. The semi-tractor was impounded for 24 hours.
