A video has emerged showing NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh being mocked by protestors at an event for Ontario NDP candidate Navjit Kaur in Brampton, Ont. .“Hey, don’t be mean,” said the protestors at a Thursday event. .“Jagmeet, bro, we got questions.”.Most of these protestors were turban-wearing South Asian Sikhs. The video shows Singh hurrying into his car as the protestors follow him. .One of the protestors said Singh should respect him because he is wearing a mask. The protestors proceeded to call him “a pussy” and “sellout Singh” as he drove away. .Another video shows protestors being blocked from entering the event. .“I have our friend over here, whose trespassing us from the public event for a meet and greet when we have our public servants inside that were allowed to ask these questions,” said protestor Jaskanwal Singh. .“They’re trying to avoid us at all costs.”.Singh said security guards were threatening to call police on the protestors and have trespassing charges laid. .The police officers who showed up chuckled when they learned they were called to respond to the protestors at a public event..Various public figures joked about how people would respond to this incident. .National Post columnist Rupa Subramanya said she was curious how people would portray the protestors. .“Can't wait for someone to spin this as Jagmeet Singh mobbed by far right white supremacists,” said Subramanya..JAMES International Security Consulting principal owner T Lee Humphrey said he was looking forward to the media coverage. .“Why do I suspect the taxpayer funded #RegimeMedia are going to pretend that a bunch of white skinheads were calling @theJagmeetSingh a sell out & a pussy instead of a bunch of young Sikh men?” said Humphrey. .This incident is the second time in the last month the NDP leader has been confronted at an event. .Protestors heckled Singh as he was leaving an Ontario NDP event in Peterborough, Ont., on May 10. .“You turned your back on the people,” said a protestor. .Demonstrators called him “a traitor” as he walked to the car he was leaving in..The NDP could not be reached for comment in time for publication.
